We at Thayer Construction seriously believe that there is more involved in a building project than just building buildings. It is our desire as a builder that the intent of the designer and the needs of the owners we are building for are protected and fulfilled. We believe that building with effect is doing our part as the builder to see that the final product is exactly what was expected and needed.
We also believe that building with effect is caring for the men, women and sub contractors that are employed to build the buildings. They are far more important than the buildings that they are employed or hired to build. Therefore we of course are very concerned for the safety of our men and take seriously safety training and reminders of safety practice procedures. But Thayer doesn’t draw the line there. Real effectiveness involves the eternal safety of our men and women and any one associated with any of our projects. It is our goal to make sure anyone entering our jobsite has an opportunity to hear about God’s plan for eternal safety. That’s the kind of “effect” that last for an eternity.
THEREFORE: Our Mission Statement is very simple yet very constructive and
when fulfilled brings great delight and overwhelming fulfillment. Simply
stated it is;
“WE BUILD TO PLEASE”
We believe that if Thayer Construction Inc. is contracted as a Construction Manager or as a “turn key” General Contractor there are three principles of operation that must be in place before anyone can be pleased. Scripture tells us that everything we do must be done with:
1. Integrity… Everything must be done with quality and in order. The building codes, the designers design and the owner’s needs must prevail over profits. Honesty is a structural member that cannot be ignored or compromised. Without justice how can we expect effective building to be the result?
2. Mercy…we believe that we all make mistakes and are in need of forgiveness and understanding. It’s our desire to be understanding of the needs of all employees and sub contractors and that they are treated with respect and allowed to make a profit. We must maintain fairness regarding contract and change order issues. We believe It’s our responsibility to guard the owners finances and interests as well a provide opportunity for all involved to be successful.
3. Humility… Arrogance and ego only stop progress and hurt relationships. We at Thayer like to take pride in our work but not at the cost of someone else. Our projects are centered on relationships with one another and of course with God. Unless we humble ourselves before God we’ll never meet Him and unless we humble ourselves before each other we’ll never make each other successful and when that happens no one is pleased.
Just as we take the responsibility of building men’s lives seriously, we also take the building of buildings seriously. Investments in structures are just that, “investments” and it’s our intent to make every effort to assure that our client’s investment is as secure as it can possibly be. This requires careful value engineering, Competent supervision, alert quality control, Cost wise management as well as an overall contract awareness of all sub contracts. All these responsibilities are part of a continual growing and learning process. Technologies continue to change and provide better standards of construction methods and construction management. They in turn become a benefit to our clients providing we at Thayer construction do our best to stay current in our growing process and small in our overhead expense. And that is just what we intend to do.
As the saying goes “there is only two guarantees in life, death and taxes” which unfortunately seems to be correct, but we like to add a couple more. When it comes to the contracting business Thayer Construction Inc. guarantees that we will do everything possible to assure that our clients won’t pay for something they don’t get and that they will get exactly what they pay for. We do not believe our clients are choosing us to make us rich neither do we believe they expect Thayer Construction or any related sub contractors to work without a profit.
We realize that getting started on any project is the hardest step to take and that it needs to be a correct step. That first step requires involving the right architect, the right engineers, the right designers and of course the right contractor. We may not be the right contractor for you and if we feel that we are not, we will tell you as well as assist you in finding the right architect/designer and even contractor that can effectively lead you through the construction process if you desire.
